Healthwatch Croydon volunteers become Dementia Friends
At our Volunteers event last Friday (20 April), 11 volunteers and two Healthwatch Croydon staff became Dementia Friends.
A Dementia Friend learns a little bit more about what it’s like to live with dementia and then turns that understanding into action – anyone of any age can be a Dementia Friend. Dementia Friends is about learning more about dementia and the small ways you can help. From telling friends about Dementia Friends to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action count.
Each received a card telling a little more about five key messages:
Healthwatch Croydon is starting to research the experience of health service by those with dementia, through the experiences of their carers. We plan to publish initial findings in time for Dementia Awareness Week from 21 May-27 May and a full report in June. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to get more involved.
You can find out more at the Dementia Friends website.
