Healthwatch Croydon responds to CQC inspection at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust
Following the Care Quality Commission inspection of Croydon Health Services NHS Trust, Charlie Ladyman, CEO of Healthwatch Croydon, the local champion for health and social care, said:
“We believe the CQC report has been constructive and will hopefully progress towards borough-wide to support Croydon University Hospital and other services the trust delivers, to continue to improve.
“Key to this support is an emphasis on shared decision making, person-centred care and working in partnership to support people to take responsibility for their care. There is a need for both patients and healthcare professionals to feedback when things have gone well as well as badly and Healthwatch Croydon can support and encourage this.
“We also need to ensure staff receive safeguarding training, and complete the training with council staff, health professionals across the network and charity workers such as Healthwatch volunteers. This, at the same time, improves communications and build relationships between organisations that patients and service users often overlap.”
Healthwatch Croydon received coverage on our response in the print version of the Croydon Advertiser, Friday 9 October, page 7.
